Our definition of “fitness” is different. Our way of ACHIEVING this fitness is unique.

TERNION, by definition, means “3 things together.” Here is a quick look at 3 things that make our program 1 of a kind.

#1. We specialize in restoring FUNCTION, increasing FITNESS and elevating performance in SPORT: People come to our gym with the desire to improve themselves in at least one of these areas. An elderly man might come to learn how to sit and stand from a chair more safely. He may come to restore motion in a shoulder that has been stiff for years. He’s coming, simply, to restore FUNCTION for life.

A nurse that’s having trouble keeping up with the increasing workload at the hospital, is tired of being out of breath when ambulating patients. She needs to be stronger and know how to lift heavy or immobile patients safely. She’s coming for function AND for FITNESS, and she’s doing her job better.

A weekend warrior is training for his/her next Tough Mudder, MS 150, half, or 5k Fun Run. She made a bet that she would beat her friend and finish with a faster time. She’s definitely in it for the SPORT. She’s going to get really FIT along the way.

#2. NUTRITION, TRAINING, and RECOVERY
As part of your membership, you get free NUTRITION advice! Let us expose you what “healthy eating” really is. Work with us to build a sustainable diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. Eat to perform, not to survive as cheaply as possible.

Train your body in a variety of ways. Lift heavy objects and learn to carry them a long way. Develop the strength to pull yourself up over a bar, jump higher, or run further than you ever have. Improve your balance, coordination, and cardio-respiratory endurance. Stop working out and begin TRAINING for life.

RECOVERY is multifaceted approach. Sleep, mobility, meditation. Whatever it is, you’re probably not getting enough of it! We’ll take care of your body and ease your mind by providing excellent attention to detail when customizing weights and workouts. Expect the highest quality service possible when it comes to everything else. This is your body we’re dealing with so your best interest is in our minds at all time. If you need time off, we’re going to tell you to take a break. Don’t get offended. Recover and return stronger!

3. FUN, FUN, and MORE FUN
That pretty much sums it up. We have a triangle in our logo which in chemistry, represents the only constant. In life, the only thing that we can constantly count on is that CHANGE is coming. Fun. Get ready for it.

Change the way you LOOK and FEEL.

2014 SCHEDULE

scheduleNote that the 6:30pm class on Wednesday night is now an Olympic Lifting Class. To join this class, you will need a membership add-on.  See website for details.

On Thursday nights, the 6:30 time slot will be Elements I. This is a class or BRAND NEW Members. The cost for Elements I & II is $50 per class. You will not need to attend these …classes (consider yourself “Grandfathered In”. All new people interested in joining our gym will go through these 2 classes before joining our regular classes. All Elements I Classes, normally held Thursday nights at 6:30pm, are postponed until after the CrossFit Open and will resume April 3rd at 6:30pm. If you are interested in joining our group classes, please come to our CrossFit BASICS class, held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30pm. Only $50 per month for this Class!!!!

What will CrossFit do for you?

At Ternion we train to improve your body’s capacity within 10 general fitness domains and utilize CrossFit methodology to achieve optimal performance in function, fitness, and in sport. Everyone, regardless of skill level or experience, has the ability to achieve ELITE level fitness and we aim to prove it with every workout!

CrossFit WODs(Workout Of the Day) are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. At TERNION, you will not find any machines in our facility (YOU are the only complex machine we let in the door)– instead, we utilize kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, sleds, heavy tires, climbing ropes, and our space for running, jumping, climbing, lifting, rowing and throwing. The workouts are completely scalable, meaning, a newbee and an experienced CrossFit athlete can both complete the same workout with the only difference being in load and intensity. As Greg Glassman(founder of CrossFit) says, “the needs of Olympic athletes and those of our grandparents vary by degree, not kind”. We’ll train both and everyone in between to a common goal… ELITE PERFORMANCE!

CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal results independently or as a complement to any sport-specific training regimen in which you may be currently involved. Here is the list of the 10 general physical domains we’ll train and a brief explanation of the competence we are working to develop.

Accuracy: Ability to control the movement of an object in a given direction or given intensity

Agility: Ability to minimize the transition time from one movement pattern to another

Balance: Ability to control the placement of our bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base

Coordination: Ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement

Cardio-Respiratory Endurance: Ability of our body systems to gather, process, and delver oxygen

Flexibility: Ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint

Power: Ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time

Speed: Ability to minimize the time cycle of repeated movement

Strength: Ability of a muscular unit, or combination or muscular units, to apply force

Stamina: Ability of our bodies systems to process, deliver, store and utilize energy
